A Split Decision For Albion Softball

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Albion College gained a split of its Monday spring break softball games.

Albion 7, Clark (Mass.) 5

 Kaitlyn Hotchkin hit a two-run single and Monica Brugnoni delivered a RBI on a sacrifice bunt as Albion scored three times in the fifth to erase a 4-2 deficit. Albion added a pair of insurance runs in the sixth as Julia Anderson and Kaylee Fields scored when the Cougars shortstop misplayed a groundball off the bat of Erica Wagner.

Andrea Benson and Olivia Imbier also drove in runs for the Britons.

Lauren Oppliger got the win with support from a Briton defense that did not commit any errors. Oppliger's final line included nine hits, a walk and two strikeouts.

Marian (Wis.) 8, Albion 0

Anderson and Elena Luce produced singles for the Britons.

Marian scored two times in the first and plated three more in the second. The Sabres added a run in the fourth and closed out the game with two more in the sixth.

On Deck

Albion will visit North Collier Regional Park in Naples for Tuesday games against Eastern Nazarene (Mass.) and Rockford (Ill.).
