Albion Fares Strong against Tough Competition

TIFFIN, Ohio - The Britons competed against some stiff Division II and Division III competition at the Dragon Grand Prix. Though there was no score kept, the Briton men had some excellent performances.

Trevor Knowles led the way placing 3rd in the triple jump and 4th in the long jump. Trevor also ran a personal best time in the 200m. Marcus Freeman was another jumper who had a good day. Marcus finished fourth (4th) in the triple jump, as well as earning a season's best in the long jump. Rounding out a strong day in the jumps was Ed Longmire making the finals with a personal best in the long jump.

Xavier Aikens continued to surpass the 16m mark with the weight. He finished a strong 8th in a field load with Division II national qualifiers.

Next weekend the Britons travel to Grand Rapids to compete at Aquinas College and Grand Valley State.

Joe and Julie Serra have given a $5 million leadership gift to launch a fundraising initiative to make two dreams a reality at Albion College. The first is a newly expanded fitness and student activity facility at the site of the current Dow Recreation and Wellness Center. The second is a new or renovated competition facility for the volleyball, men's basketball and women's basketball teams that currently call Kresge Gymnasium home.

The College is continuing to raise funds in support of both projects. To learn more, call 517/629-0446 or email
