ALBION, Mich. – Albion College shot 56 percent – its second-best performance of the season – to coast by Hope College, 86-57, on the final day of the regular season.
Boosted by its largest crowd of the season at Kresge Gymnasium and the energy of playing on senior day, seniors Ryan Lowe and Dylan Bennett combined to score the first three baskets of the game as Albion never trailed.
A 7-0 run on a pair of baskets by Caden Ebeling and a 3-point basket by Bennett extended the Albion lead to 20-7 midway through the first half.
Hope briefly got the margin to nine, but Albion delivered the knockout punch with a an 11-0 run to build a 33-13 lead. Hope never got within 17 the rest of the way.
Jaylin Fordham led the Briton with 16 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and three blocks.
Austin Thompson, another of the Briton seniors, had a nice day with five points, three assists and two rebounds.
ArShawn Parker, the sixth Briton senior, finished with six points and five assists.
Albion finished the regular season at 17-7 overall and 10-4 against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rivals. The Britons have the No. 2 seed for the MIAA Tournament and will play the 1 o'clock semifinal game in Angola, Ind.
