ALBION -- As the state of Michigan readies to reopen gyms and other indoor fitness spaces, Albion Athletics is prepared to open its indoor facilities to current Albion College students, faculty and staff only on Wednesday, September 9 at 6 a.m. These facilities include the Serra Fitness Center and multipurpose room, along with the Lomas Fieldhouse.
The Dean Aquatic Center will reopen on Sunday, September 13 from 7-9 p.m. for open swim.
To assure a safe and responsible reopening, Dow memberships will not be honored at this time. These spaces are only to be used by current Albion College students, faculty and staff. All guest policies continue to be suspended at this time.
The Ungrodt Tennis Center and Gracie Mack Golf Indoor Center will be open for varsity team practices only. In conjunction with the executive order, the outdoor fitness tent will remain open daily with modified hours and masks must be worn at all times except when swimming. Additional cleaning protocols have been put in place for each of the facilities, emphasizing the sanitization of high touch points.
An active Albion College student, faculty or staff ID must be presented upon entrance to all indoor athletic facilities.
All of these spaces have a complete list of updated rules, capacity listings and hours that are accessible on our COVID-19 page. All who wish to use these facilities should familiarize themselves with the policies and procedures
Due to the executive order, all facilities will be at a 25 percent capacity, with those numbers being listed outside each door. All machines have been spaced according to the executive order, with dividers put in place to help combat the spread of COVID-19.
The varsity student-athlete weight room will reopen on Monday, September 14 by reservation only through head strength and conditioning coach, Aaron Mehl.
