Vince runs to All-America finish

WINNECONNE, Wis. – The Albion College cross country program is celebrating an All-America performance for the third year in a row.

Cassandra Vince raced to 10th place in the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship at the Lake Breeze Golf Club on Saturday, the highest finish ever by an Albion runner on the national stage. Prior to today, Mike Conwell held the honor of Albion's best finish in the national championship meet when he finished 21st in 1963.

Vince was the first runner from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association to finish, reaching the line in 21:21.2.

She follows Jessica Shaw (2016) and Andrew Bill (2017) as All-Americans for Albion in recent years.

"Coach Derick Lawrence has done a great job building this program and preparing me to compete with the best in the nation," Vince said. "I wanted to represent our team and all the hard work we have put in this season. Finishing in the top 10 in the nation is definitely an honor and I would like to thank my coaches, teammates and family for supporting me. It was an experience I will never forget."
