Opposite side hitter Kate Winter and setter Grace VanDorn represent Albion College as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association unveiled its all-league picks in volleyball on Tuesday.
A junior from White Lake, Mich., who prepped at Lakeland High School, Winter was a first team pick. In statistics for the eight matches against MIAA rivals, she was third in the league with 112 kills while achieving a .274 hitting percentage that placed her sixth. Winter also helped out at the net with 26 blocks, fourth-most in the league.
Winter reached double figures in kills in seven of the eight matches against MIAA rivals, including 17 in the four-set victory over Olivet College.
VanDorn, a junior from North Aurora, Ill., is receiving her third career all-MIAA second team award.
She averaged a shade less than six assists and three digs per set in the eight matches against league rivals and achieved double-doubles in assists and digs in five matches.
"I am so proud of these two players," Albion Head Volleyball Coach Kristin de St. Aubin said. "Both have grown so much over the course of the year and taking on new roles. Kate becoming our go to in system and out of system hitter and improving as a blocker. Grace's role was slightly different but she is the type of person we cannot win without. She is an amazing teammate and competitor. I am so proud of both of them not only for their on court contributions but also for their leadership."
Albion finished the regular season at 15-10 overall and 4-4 in the MIAA. The Britons will travel to Alma College on Tuesday for a first round match in the MIAA Tournament.

Joe and Julie Serra have given a $5 million leadership gift to launch a fundraising initiative to make two dreams a reality. The first is a newly expanded fitness and student activity facility at the site of the current Dow Recreation and Wellness Center. The second is a new or renovated facility for the volleyball, men's basketball and women's basketball teams that currently call Kresge Gymnasium home.
