Britons overpower Kenyon in volleyball victory

LANSING, Mich. – With the exception of a hiccup on serve receive in the third set, Albion College overpowered Kenyon College for a 25-16, 25-14, 23-25, 25-11 victory on the first night of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association volleyball crossover with teams from the North Coast Athletic Conference.

Albion improved to 4-0 on the young season with the victory.

The Britons hit at least .400 in every set and finished the match hitting .449 with 52 kills and just eight errors.

Chloe Webber knocked down a career high 17 kills with just one error for a .593 hitting percentage. She also assisted on six blocks and served two aces.

Kate Winter hit .480 with 14 kills and two errors and Kelsey Gustafson hit .375 (11 kills and two errors) while adding six digs and three aces.

Albion will return to Aim High for Saturday matches against DePauw University and Wittenberg University.

Joe and Julie Serra have given a $5 million leadership gift to launch a fundraising initiative to make two dreams a reality at Albion College. The first is a newly expanded fitness and student activity facility at the site of the current Dow Recreation and Wellness Center. The second is a new or renovated competition facility for the volleyball, men's basketball and women's basketball teams that currently call Kresge Gymnasium home.
