Albion serves up volleyball victory

ADRIAN, Mich. – Kelsey Gustafson and Chloe Webber knocked down 11 kills apiece and Kameron Haley served up seven aces as the Britons cruised past Wilmington College in three sets (25-9, 25-19, 25-11).

Haley's seven aces are second-most for Albion in a three-set match. Eliza Lee served up nine aces in a 2002 match when teams played 30-point sets.

Albion was impressive in the first set, hitting .455 with 12 kills in 22 attacks while committing just two errors.

The Britons also took advantage of Wilmington's trouble receiving the serve. Albion served up 13 aces in all with Webber also scored four aces. Gustafson and Jenna Khoury also scored aces for the Britons.

Albion will complete the opening weekend of the season with Saturday matches against Manchester University and Adrian College.

Joe and Julie Serra have given a $5 million leadership gift to launch a fundraising initiative to make two dreams a reality at Albion College. The first is a newly expanded fitness and student activity facility at the site of the current Dow Recreation and Wellness Center. The second is a new or renovated competition facility for the volleyball, men's basketball and women's basketball teams that currently call Kresge Gymnasium home.

The College is continuing to raise funds in support of both projects. To learn more, call 517/629-0446 or email advancement@albion.edu
