Albion rides Brown's serve to three-set victory

ALBION, Mich. – Taylor Rosenthal collected nine kills and Brielle Brown served up four aces as Albion College started the final weekend of the regular season with a 25-18, 25-21, 25-12 victory over the University of Wisconsin-Platteville in non-league women's volleyball action at Kresge Gymnasium.

The visiting Pioneers committed 32 attack errors and finished the match with a negative hitting percentage (-.028).

Albion trailed 6-2 in the second set, but it scored a couple of points when Brown served to cut the deficit to a single point. The Britons scored six points on Brown's serve, including two aces, as Albion pulled ahead 21-17. A block by Marie Pregenzer and Kate Winter finished the set.

Albion delivered the knockout punch in the third set, as Brown served the final six points of the match. She put an exclamation point on the victory with her final service ace.

Brown added a kill and seven digs in addition to her serving. Pregenzer hit .300 with three kills while adding two block assists and two aces.

Albion, 14-10 overall, will play two matches at home on Saturday. The Britons have an 11 a.m. start against the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. An afternoon match against Dension (Ohio) University is scheduled for a 3 o'clock first serve.
