Winter, Pregenzer lift Albion to volleyball victory

ANDERSON, Ind. – Kate Winter knocked down four kills and Marie Pregenzer added three kills and a pair of service aces in the fourth set as Albion College subdues Anderson University in four sets (25-19, 25-19, 24-26, 25-18) in a non-league volleyball match Tuesday night.

Albion, winners of five of its last six, was serving match point in the third set. An Albion hitting error turned the serve over to Anderson and the Ravens forced another set as Kylie Osborne delivered a kill and Brooke Troyer served up an ace.

Albion improved its hitting to .303 in the fourth set with 17 kills against seven errors in 33 attacks. Winter terminated two points as Albion jumped out to a 4-0 lead, and Pregenzer's ace made the score 6-1.

Taylor Rosenthal, who finished with x kills, terminated two more points as the Britons maintained an 11-4 lead.

Anderson closed to within three, 19-16, but Pregenzer slammed the door with a kill and an ace.

Pregenzer finished the night hitting. 522 with 13 kills against one error in 23 attacks. She added three aces and three block assists.

Winter contributed a season-high 13 kills and three block assists.

Setter Grace VanDorn achieved a double-double for the third consecutive match, dishing out 26 assists and collecting 13 digs.

Libero Monica Shuk chipped in with a team-high 14 digs, five assists and two aces.

Felicity Bontrager and Olivia Rice reached double figures in kills for Anderson with 12 and 11, respectively.

Albion, 6-3 overall, will travel to Hiram (Ohio) College on Saturday for a triangular against the Terriers and Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) College.
