Volleyball Bows To Ohio Northern, Rose-Hulman

ADA, Ohio – Kelsey Gustafson and Taylor Rosenthal collected 20 kills apiece and setter Grace VanDorn picked up two more double-doubles as Albion College absorbed a three-set loss to 21st-ranked Ohio Northern University and a four-set loss to the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in non-league volleyball action Friday night.

VanDorn dished out 25 assists and added 11 digs against Ohio Northern, and she came up with 49 assists and 19 digs against Rose-Hulman.

Also, libero Monica Shuk picked up 39 digs to move her season total to 392, sixth-most in a season at Albion.

Ohio Northern d. Albion 25-13, 25-15, 25-19

Kaitlyn Gilchrist terminated two points, Marie Pregenzer and Kate Winter combined for a block and Shuk contributed a rare kill as Albion scored five in a row to seize a 7-2 lead in the third set. Ohio Northern scored five in a row to forge a tie at 8-8 and the Polar Bears finished a sweep of the match.

Winter led the Britons with 11 kills while hitting .250.

Rose-Hulman d. Albion 25-22, 22-25, 25-22, 27-25

Gustafson's kill sent Albion to set point in the fourth, but the Britons were unable to force a decisive fifth set.

Gustafson racked up 16 kills, while Rosenthal had 15.

Next Up

Albion (12-10 overall) only has Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association matches remaining for the rest of the season. The Britons begin the homestretch of the season with a 6:30 p.m. Tuesday home match against Adrian College.
