Volleyball Team Splits Three-Set Matches

UNION, N.J. – Albion College gained a split of three-set volleyball matches on the second day of the Kean Invitational on Saturday.

Albion d. New York University 25-16, 25-19, 25-22

Kelsey Gustavson knocked down a season-high 14 kills, two shy of matching her career-high, Kayla O'Malley added 10 kills, and Taylor Rosenthal hit .500 with nine kills in 18 attacks.

Albion gave New York fits in serve receive. The Britons served up 10 aces. Rachel Zawodny was credited with three aces. Marie Pregenzer and Monica Shuk added two aces apiece.

Gustafson and Rosenthal produced six kills apiece, while Zawodny served up two of Albion's three aces.

Notes

Shuk collected 32 digs on the day, moving her career total to 1,257. She is four shy of moving into third on Albion's all-time list. She was named to the Kean All-Tournament team, finishing with 78 digs, 14 assists and five aces in the four matches.

Gustafson finished the weekend with 41 kills in the four matches.

Rosenthal finished the tournament hitting .253 (35-14-83) and she contributed seven block assists.

Pregenzer finished the tournament with seven blocks and four service aces.

Zawodny served up 10 aces in the tournament.

Coming Up

Albion jumps into Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association action Friday, Sept. 8, with a home match against Trine University. The first serve is set for 6:30 p.m. inside Kresge Gymnasium.
