The Albion College women's volleyball team was named a 2016-17 American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award recipient.
The AVCA has given out the Team Academic Award since 1992-93. In order to qualify for any award of academic excellence, a team must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30 during the school year.
This year, a record 822 teams were recognized with the award, 58 more than the previous high set in 2015-16. One-hundred fifty Division III schools were honored, the most of any NCAA division and second-most of any category behind high school girls.
