Volleyball Seniors Walk Off Winners

ALBION, Mich. – Albion College staved off four set points to pull out a 18-25, 25-16, 25-23, 28-26 victory over Adrian College in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association volleyball match.

Training 24-20 in the fourth set, Lauren Outwater terminated a pair of points, Stephanie Thurner and Marie Pregenzer combined on a block and Adrian committed a hitting error as Albion rallied to tie the score at 24.

Serving to send the match to a decisive fifth set, Adrian's Margo Joubran served the ball into the net.

Outwater produced a kill to send Albion to match point and a bad set ended the match.

Setter Ami Milligan, one of four seniors playing in her final collegiate match, produced her 14th double-double of the season with 46 assists and a season high 24 digs. She spread the ball to her hitters, with Kelsey Gustafson and Outwater collected 16 kills apiece, Turner had 11 and Taylor Rosenthal had 10.

Albion finished the night with eight blocks. Thurner and Pregenzer were credited with five block assists apiece. Pregenzer also served up three aces.

Putting the seniors in perspective, Milligan departs as Albion's all-time assists leader win 2,899, Outwater's 895 kills are third on Albion's all-time list, and Thurner finished third on Albion's career blocks list (204) and fourth in kills (839).

Returning next season is libero Monica Shuk. With 33 digs today, she moved her single-season school record total to 613. With 1,179 career digs, she is 155 shy of the school's all-time record.
