Vince placed on Academic All-District team

ALBION, Mich. – Cassie Vince, who represented Albion College as an All-American in cross country and indoor track & field during the 2018-19 academic year, picked up another award Tuesday.

The senior from Amherst, Ohio, was one of two student-athletes from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association voted to the Google Cloud Academic All-District® Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Vince advances to the ballot for the Google Cloud Division III Academic All-America team selected by CoSIDA. That announcement will be made June 25.

An exercise science major who graduated Summa Cum Laude in May, Vince raced to a 10th place finish in the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championship in November and fifth place in the 5,000 meters during the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in March. Along the way, Vince was named the MIAA Most Valuable Runner in cross country and the Great Lakes Region Track Athletic of the Year for the indoor season by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Joe and Julie Serra have given a $5 million leadership gift to launch a fundraising initiative to make two dreams a reality at Albion College. The first is a newly expanded fitness and student activity facility at the site of the current Dow Recreation and Wellness Center. The second is a new or renovated competition facility for the volleyball, men's basketball and women's basketball that currently call Kresge Gymnasium home.

The College is continuing to raise funds in support of both projects. To learn more, call 517/629-0446 or email advancement@albion.edu.
