Vince runs away with MIAA award

Cassie Vince represents Albion College as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women's Track Athlete of the Week for April 1.

The senior from Amherst, Ohio, set the fastest time in Division III and lowered her personal record by 44 seconds in the 10,000 meters this season when she completed her run in 34:26.36 in Raleigh, N.C., last Friday.

An All-American in the 5,000 meters during the indoor track season, Vince is gaining the MIAA Women's Outdoor Runner of the Week for the second time in her career.

Albion is scheduled to compete in the Marv Frye Invitational at Ohio Wesleyan University this weekend.

Joe and Julie Serra have given a $5 million leadership gift to launch a fundraising initiative to make two dreams a reality at Albion College. The first is a newly expanded fitness and student activity facility at the site of the current Dow Recreation and Wellness Center. The second is a new or renovated competition facility for the volleyball, men's basketball and women's basketball that currently call Kresge Gymnasium home.

The College is continuing to raise funds in support of both projects. To learn more, call 517/629-0446 or email advancement@albion.edu.
