GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Layla Wilks secured gold medals in the 60- and 200-meter events, Cassie Vince claimed gold in the 5,000 and bronze in the 800 and Hannah Almhiemid and Cedria Grant were the top two finishers in the 60 hurdles as Albion College finished third in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship.
Almhiemid set a season-best time (9.61 seconds) to edge Grant by a tenth of a second in the hurdles.
Wilks led Albion to a 1-2 finish in the 60. First-year sprinter Alexis McGinley was the runner up.
Vince cruised to the victory in the 5,000. She completed her race in 17:20.69, a time that was 45 seconds ahead of the runner up.
Cianna Brown picked up bronze medals in the 400 meters and with the 4x400 relay team (Lauren McDowell, Emily Kinser, and Chalara Sutton).
In the field, ShaQuoria Thompson and Jessica Johnson claimed the silver and bronze medals in the shot put.
