Saginaw, Mich. – The Albion College women's track & field team competed very well at the Saginaw Valley Holiday Classic.

Junior Cassandra Vince won the 5000 meters with a NCAA Division III Championship provisional qualifying time of 17:24.21. This mark may be a school record for the event depending on the conversion.

First-year student-athlete Layla Wilks also ran exceptionally well with school record times in both the 60 (8.14) and 200 meters (25.99).

Just missing the school record for the 400 meters, first-year student-athlete Allison Butler ran a strong 1:01.71. The women's 4x400 relay (Alyssa Barnett, Emily Kinser, Butler, and Tyra Thomas-Spratley) also showed a lot of heart en route to running a time of 4:19.35.

Off the track, seniors McKenna Donahue and Abby Voglewede heaved the weight throw for 13.32 meters and 11.06 meters, respectively, to set new personal records.

"There were a lot of really great performances for this early in the season," said Albion College Coach Lance Coleman, "Though we are young, today's performances have me excited for the rest of the season."

The Britons will return to action early next year.
