NEW ORLEANS, La. – Three women – seniors Angela Morrison and Jessica Shaw and sophomore Nia Thomas – represented Albion College when the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Association released its list of all-Great Lakes region performers Monday morning.

The top five individuals in each events achieved all-region distinction.

Morrison, who prepped at Lutheran Westland High School, achieved the region's top score and qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships in the heptathlon when she scored 4,650 points in a meet in Naperville, Ill., last week. She also finished fifth in the region in the 100-meter hurdles, setting a time of 14.99 seconds in finishing second in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championship.

Shaw, from Allegan, Mich., qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships when she set the third-fastest time in the 10,000 meters – 36:09.91 – at an April meet hosted by Bucknell University. She went on to achieve all-MIAA status by winning the league title in the event, finishing her race in MIAA Championships in 37:30.84.

Shaw also gained all-region status in the 5,000 meters, setting the region's fifth-fastest time – 17:19.67 – at a meet hosted by Washington (Mo.) University in late March.

Thomas, who achieved all-MIAA status by winning the league title in the long jump at 17' 6 ¼", finished fourth in the region when she sailed a school record 5.59 meters, the equivalent of 18' 4 ¼" during a last chance qualifying meet in Naperville, Ill., in May.
