Track & Field Athletes Tune Up For MIAA Championships

ADA, Ohio – Boosted by balanced scoring, Albion College finished third out of eight teams assembled for the Polar Bear Invitational at Ohio Northern University.

Emilee Kinney sprinted to first place in the 100 meters, achieving a meet record of 12.62 seconds, winning the 200 in a school record time of 25.79, and running the anchor on the 4x100 relay (with Maicey Peterson, Nia Thomas and Tyra Thomas-Spratley) that finished first.

Thomas-Spratley added a season-best performance to finish fifth in the 200, and Emily Kinser achieved a personal record.

Thomas, Peterson and Khaila Royster all competed well in jumping events. Thomas won the long jump and finished third in the triple jump. Royster achieved a personal record in finishing fourth in the triple jump and Peterson matched her school record in finishing fifth in the pole vault.

In longer running events, Allison Snyder finished third in the 1,500 meters and Kendra Cook finished third in the steeplechase.

Next up for the Britons is the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championships, set for May 4-5 in Grand Rapids.
