Sophomore Races To School Records

MUNCIE, Ind. – Sophomore Emilee Kinney was part of two Albion College track records Saturday as she competed in the Ball State Challenge.

Kinney joined Maicey Peterson, Nia Thomas, and Tyra Thomas-Spratley in the 4x100 relay that achieved the school standard in 49.35 seconds.

Kinney also set the school record when she completed the 200 meters in 26.02. She was followed by Thomas-Spratley (26.85) and Khaila Royster (28.37).

Kinney also sprinted to the finish line in 12.83 seconds in the 100 meters. Angela Morrison, fresh off a career-best score in a heptathlon competition at Indiana Wesleyan on Thursday and Friday, set a personal record of 12.85.

 Thomas and Royster achieved personal records in the triple jump, with Thomas sailing 35' 3 ¾" to finish fifth and Royster coming in seventh at 34' ¼".

In Friday action at a meet hosted by Bucknell University, senior distance runner Jessica Shaw finished the 10,000 meters in 36:09.91. That performance places her sixth on the Division III list at this point of the season.

Allison Snyder improved her personal record in the 5,000 meters by nine seconds, crossing the finish line in 18:04.44.

Albion athletes are scheduled to compete in the Polar Bear Invitational in Ada, Ohio, next Saturday.
