Track & Field Places Three On All-Region List

Albion College placed three track and field athletes – sophomore jumper Jephte Jean-Claude, senior multi-event athlete Angela Morrison and senior sprinter Jessica Shaw – on the all-Great Lakes Region list released Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

To achieve all-region distinction, the Britons were ranked in the top five of an individual event in the region according to final data pulled from the Track & Field Results Reporting System.

Jean-Claude, a product of Traverse City Central High School, sailed 44' 5 ½" to defend his Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association title in the triple jump.

Morrison, who prepped at Lutheran Westland High School, qualified as the first athlete to represent Albion in the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships when she scored 3,296 points in the indoor pentathlon in a March 3 meet at Ohio Northern University. She set personal best performances in the high jump (5' 1 ¼") and shot put (31' 8") and matched her personal best in the long jump (16' 7 ¾"). On the track, she set times of 9.32 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles and 2:31.16 in the 800 meters.

Shaw, from Allegan, was fourth in the region in the 5,000 meters. She completed the race in Grand Valley State's Holiday Open in 17:40.66.
