Women's Tennis Wins Opening MIAA Match

ALMA, Mich. - Albion College defeated Alma College, 7-2, in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's tennis opener for both teams.

Albion won the top five singles matches, all in straight sets. Lauren Rasmussen pulled out a tiebreaker to win the first set and she dispatched Claudia Barajas, 6-2, in the second set for the win at No. 1 singles.

Olivia Conover had the most decisive win, earning a 6-1, 6-1 decision at No. 3 singles.

Lauren Solano (No. 2), Chrissy Gauss (No. 4) and Marceline Redick (No. 5) also gained singles victories for Albion.

In doubles, Gauss and Rasmussen were 8-4 winners at the top of the lineup and Conover and Solano were 8-2 winners at No. 2.

Next up for Albion is a Tuesday MIAA match at Adrian College.
