Albion Off To Flying Start

ALBION, Mich. – Irene Chen, Margaux Kabodian and Olivia Conover won their singles matches in straight sets as Albion College defeated Cornerstone University, 8-1, in its first women's tennis match of the season.

Kadodian overwhelmed her rival at No. 2 singles, winning 6-1, 6-0. Conover, a first-year player from Flushing, made an impressive collegiate debut with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles. Chen was a 6-2, 6-3 winner at the top of the lineup.

Lauren Rasmussen had to work longer, winning a tie-breaker after splitting the first two sets, to earn the point in the No. 3 singles match.

Albion faced little opposition in the doubles contests. Chen and Kabodian were 8-2 winners at the top of the lineup and Conover and Rasmussen took an 8-4 win at No. 2.

Albion's next match is a Feb. 27 date at Aquinas College.
