A chemistry major and biology minor at Albion College, Lexie Seidel, '21, expanded her view of the world – and history – when she joined a group of Britons for a May trip to Wroclaw, Poland, as part of the Holocaust Studies Service Learning Project.
The Beverly Hills, Mich., product who also competes for the Britons as a swimmer, Seidel reflected on the trip as difficult, rewarding and having a purpose.
"The Holocaust Studies Service Learning Project allowed me to not only make an actual impact on the Jewish community in Wroclaw, but I was able to work alongside a group of Brits, many of whom I hadn't talked to before this trip," Seidel wrote in her reflection. "It was really amazing how participating in the same meaningful activity allowed us to become close and connected in a way that I don't think is always possible on campus alone. I am so grateful to have been able to go on this trip and make the impact that I did and allowing myself to be vulnerable enough to let it have an impact on me, too."

Joe and Julie Serra have given a $5 million leadership gift to launch a fundraising initiative to make two dreams a reality at Albion College. The first is a newly expanded fitness and student activity facility at the site of the current Dow Recreation and Wellness Center. The second is a new or renovated competition facility for the volleyball, men's basketball and women's basketball teams that currently call Kresge Gymnasium home.
