NCAA swimming qualifiers announced

Led by individual qualifiers Tyler Kimbrell and Anna Moore, Albion College's remarkable swimming and diving season will continue into March as the Britons prepare for the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships.

In all, Albion will have 17 swims in the meet.

A senior from Battle Creek, Moore set the sixth-fastest qualifying time in the 100-yard backstroke at 55.84 seconds. She will also swim in the 50 freestyle and 200 backstroke.

The women's squad also qualified for the 200 freestyle relay. Rileigh Eding, Tia Ulieme, Allison Dasky and Hannah Erickson set a time of 1:34.91, good for 16th in the nation.

Albion will also be entered in the women's 400 and 800 freestyle and 400 medley relay events. Eding will also have an individual swim in the 100 backstroke.

A junior from Milan, Mich., Kimbrell qualified 13th in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:00.77. His program will include the 50 freestyle and 200 breaststroke.

In relay action, Kimbrell will be joined by Ian Moran, Nate Kozycki and Len Ciemniecki in the 200 medley. Moran, Jake Huttenlocher, Kozycki and Ciemniecki will form the 400 medley relay squad.

Individually, Kozycki will have three swins (the 100 butterfly, 100 backstroke and 100 freestyle) and Huttenlocher will be on the blocks for the 200 breaststroke.

Albion's national team may grow this weekend if senior diver Jake Burris performs well in a regional meet at Wabash College this weekend.

The NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships run from March 20-23 at the Greensboro, N.C., Aquatic Center.
