Britons set school record in relay

HOLLAND, Mich. – Albion College started the Friday session of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Swimming and Diving Championship with a school record in the 200-yard medley relay.

Anna Moore, Kaitlind Hooper, Tia Ulieme and Allison Dasky achieved a time of 1:45.90 which was a half second faster than the previous school standard set four years ago.

Rileigh Eding and Moore achieved 'B' qualifying times for the NCAA Division III Championship in the 100 backstroke. Eding's runner up time of 56.72 seconds places her in the top 30 in Division III this season. Moore was third in the championship race at 56.75.

Twin sisters Samantha and Courtney Swingewood and Hooper reached the championship race as Albion rolled up 51 points in the 400 individual medley. Samantha Swingewood was the runner up (4:35.61), Courtney Swingewood was fifth and Hooper finished eighth. Megan Harvey took first place in the consolation final (4:46.34).

Hannah Erickson also scored a runner up finish for Albion in the 200 freestyle.

Albion had two swimmers on the starting blocks for the championship race of the 100 butterfly. Ulieme finished third and Moore was sixth. Mary Noble boosted Albion's team score with a first place finish in the consolation race.

Hooper reached the final in the 100 breaststroke, finishing sixth.

The Britons will have individual swims in the 1,650 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke and 200 butterfly on the final day of competition. The meet concludes with the 400 freestyle relay.
