Women's Swim/Dive digs deep to sink Calvin

ALBION, Mich. – Albion College had the top two finishers in five events and it took first place in both relay events to earn a 162 ½ - 125 ½ victory over Calvin College in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's swimming & diving dual meet.

Samantha Swingewood, a first-year student-athlete from Carmel, Ind., swam to first place in the 200-yard butterfly and 200 IM and she added a second place finish in the 100 fly.

Anna Moore, a senior from Battle Creek, swam to first place in both backstroke events and she joined Rileigh Eding, Hannah Erickson and Allison Dasky as Albion put the exclamation point on the night with first place in the 400 free relay.

The difference in the meet, however, was Albion's depth.

  • Rileigh Eding and Allison Dasky powered Albion in the sprint freestyle events. They were the top two finishers in the 100. They finished second and third, respectively, in the 50.
  • Dasky also joined Nicole McCann, Katy Henning and Tia Ulieme as Albion started the night with a first place swim in the 200 medley relay.
  • Kaitlind Hooper scored in both breaststroke events. After finishing second to Henning in the 100, Hooper and Courtney Swingewood took the top two places in the 200.
  • Alexandra Horman scored in both butterfly events. She won the 100 and finished second in the 200.

Albion will return to the Dean Aquatic Center on Saturday for a 1 0'clock dual meet against MIAA rival Alma College.
