Eding claims MIAA Swimmer of the Week award

Swimmers Rileigh Eding and Mac Robertson and diver Jake Burris represent Albion College among the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Athletes of the Week for Nov. 19.

Eding, a junior from Hamilton, Mich., helped Albion secure a third-place finish in the Wabash College Invitational over the weekend. Her top finish came in the 100-yard backstroke where she finished in 56.60 seconds, breaking the school record and placing her third among Division III swimmers at this point of the season. In her freestyle events, she set the eighth-fastest time in D-III in the 50 at 23.98 seconds and her time of 53.3 seconds in the 100 places her 12th nationally.

Robertson, a junior from Zeeland, Mich., achieved the fastest times of the season in the MIAA in the distance freestyle events. He completed the 500 in 4:39.28, and the 1,650 in 16:29.33. In addition, Robertson turned in the fastest split for Albion in the 200 freestyle relay at 20.98 seconds.

Burris, a senior from Chelsea, Mich., is the MIAA Men's Diver of the Week for the third time in as many weeks. He broke the Wabash College pool record with a score of 511.40 to win the 1-meter event.

Albion will take a break from competition until Jan. 11 when it dives in against Calvin College for a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association dual meet.
