HILLSDALE, Mich. – While swimmer Rileigh Eding and diver Lauren Young took first place in two events Friday night, Albion College Coach Jake Taber credited Hanna Paoletti with generating the energy for the Britons in their season-opening dual meet.
The Britons went on to take first place in seven of the 16 events in a 152-136 loss to Division II Hillsdale College.
Paoletti, a first-year swimmer from Dearborn, Mich., is already ahead of where the Britons were in distance events at this time a year ago. She completed the 1,000-yard freestyle in 11:09.90.
Taber said the Britons fed off Paoletti's performance as Edling won the 50 freestyle (24.79) and 50 butterfly (27.01), Anna Moore was first in the 50 backstroke (28.19) and second in the 100 backstroke (1:01.04), Alexandra Horman was first in the 100 butterfly (1:00.31) and second in the 100 freestyle (56.26), and Young and Marisa DeCamp were the top two performers in both diving events.
Albion finished the meet with a win in the 200 freestyle relay. Nicole McCann, Eding, Amanda Quitos and Moore achieved a time of 1:41.81.
