GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Boosted by a first place finish in the 400-yard medley relay and 33 points in 3-meter diving, Albion College leads 20th-ranked Carthage College after the first day of a quadrangular meet hosted by Calvin College.

Albion collected 295 points on the first day of competition. Carthage is third with 229. Calvin leads the event with 345 ½.

Anna Moore set the pace in the relay with a 59.83 leadoff split and the Britons completed the race in 4:05.24 to beat Calvin by nearly three seconds (4:08.12). Kylene Slocum also had a nice swim in the relay, completing the second leg in 1:08.94. Alexandra Horman (59.46) and Sarah Kilbride (57.01) completed the relay.

Earlier in the evening, Slocum, Moore, Horman and Kilbride combined for 58 points in the 200 individual medley. Slocum had the fastest time over the last 50 meters (31.17) to finish third in 2:16.84 which was 2 ½ seconds behind Carthage's Mattea Arndt. Moore, who closed in 31.67 over the final 50, was fourth in 2:17.42. Horman (2:18.29) and Kilbride (2:19.34) were fifth and sixth, respectively.

Slocum also helped Albion gain 30 points with a fourth place finish in the 200 free relay. Nicole McCann, Slocum, Molly Blank and Abigail Slager achieved a time of 1:41.52.

Albion also gained 29 points in the 500 free with Camila Manrique (5:27.47) and Katie Ferrero (5:28.50) in fourth and fifth.

In diving, Marisa DeCamp and Lauren Young finished second and third, respectively. DeCamp finished with a 310.60 total, while Young close behind at 310.55.
