Hargrove, Moore Headline Team Effort

KENOSHA, Wis. - Albion College has proven to be a team constructed to be successful in championship-format meets over the first half of the season.

With top-end talent like senior Anna Hargrove and first-year swimmer Anna Moore supported by depth from Molly Blank, Haley DeFeyter, Katie Ferrero, Lauren Hall, Katelyn Killewald, Camila Manrique, Mary Noble, Lauren Pawelec, Abigail Slager, Kylene Slocum, and Claire Wittkowski, the Britons provided another exhibit this weekend by finishing second out of seven teams assembled at the Carthage College Classic.

Albion racked up 1,402 ½ points in the two-day meet to finish less than 100 points off the total reached by first-place Carthage. In fact, Albion's total was almost twice as much as the 779 points collected by third-place Illinois Wesleyan University.

Moore turned in first-place performances in the 200-yard backstroke and 100 butterfly Saturday, Hargrove won the 200 individual medley and they worked together to help Albion win both relay events contested (200 freestyle and 400 medley).

"They split the backstroke events this weekend," Albion head coach Jake Taber said, referring to Hargrove's win in the 100 backstroke on Friday. "Outside of the backstroke, Hargrove established herself in the individual medley. We weren't quite sure where Moore would fit, but she has embraced the 100 fly as her third event."

In fact, Taber noted Moore likely achieved the second-fastest time in school history when she completed the 100 fly in 58.99 seconds. Her winning time in the 200 backstroke was 2:06.67.

Albion had three swimmers qualify for the finals in the 200 IM, 100 freestyle and 200 backstroke.
