LaRocca gains MIAA women's soccer award

Samantha LaRocca, an Albion College senior forward, has been named the women's soccer Offensive Player of the Week in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association for the second time this season.

The Clinton Township, Mich., native who prepped at Regina High School produced three goals last week as the Britons moved to 4-1 against MIAA rivals. She converted a penalty kick in the Britons 3-1 loss at Kalamazoo College last Wednesday, and she scored both goals in the 2-0 victory over Olivet College on Saturday.

LaRocca leads Albion with eight goals and 18 points in 14 matches this season. Both figures are the most she has produced in a season at the collegiate level.

Albion, 7-6-1 overall, hits the homestretch of the regular season this week. The Britons have a 7 o'clock Tuesday match against MIAA-leading Hope College and a Saturday home match against Calvin College at noon.
