Women's Soccer rolls on the road

MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Albion College women's soccer team needed an infusion of confidence after losing a pair of non-league contests on the road last weekend.

Manchester University proved to be the opponent Albion needed on the other side.

Albion dominated possession, taking 25 shots and placing 14 of those on goal as it earned a 5-0 victory Wednesday afternoon.

Kameryn Szalay scored the first two goals of her collegiate career, Samantha LaRocca produced a goal and assisted on two others and Ashlyn Wetzel scored her first career goal.

Emily Brittain tacked on her second goal of the season, as well.

Szalay opened the scoring in the eighth minute.

Wetzel scored her goal in the 44th minute, finishing a pass from Courtney Lamrouex.

Szaley finished the scoring for the day in the 84th minute, finishing a play set up by Maggie Shrader and Lexi Taylor.

Goalkeeper Hannah Reamer needed to make one save to gain credit for her first career shutout.

Albion, 3-2-1 overall, will play at home this weekend. The Britons have a 6 p.m. kickoff against Dominican (Ill.) University on Saturday and a 2 p.m. kickoff against Capital (Ohio) University on Sunday.
