Women's Soccer plays to draw with Mount Saint Joseph

ALBION, Mich. – Albion College and Mount Saint Joseph University traded goals a minute apart Wednesday afternoon and that was all the scoring as the teams played to a 1-1 draw in the non-league women's soccer match at Alumni Field.

Clare Kelley scored her first goal of the season in the 12th minute, sending a shot into the top right corner of the goal.

Kaylan Gruber provided the answer for the Lions just a minute later.

"The match was up and down with both teams getting (scoring) chances," Albion Head Coach Eric Scott said after the Britons moved to 2-0-1 on the season. "Neither team took control of the match."

Mount Saint Joseph finished with a 22-20 edge in shots.

Albion goalkeeper Megan Bricely finished with 12 saves, including one outstanding diving play early.

Emily Brittain led the Albion attack with five shots, including three on goal. Samantha LaRocca and Emily Wolford finished with four shots apiece.

Albion will play its next three contests on the road, starting with a Saturday afternoon match at Wittenberg (Ohio) University.
