Women's Soccer Bows To Hope

ALBION, Mich. – Albion College was unable to get behind the Hope College defense as the Britons came away with a 3-0 loss to their Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's soccer rival Wednesday afternoon.

Goalkeeper Maggie Troost collected eight saves, two of them diving stops worthy of Sports Center Top 10 plays, to keep the game scoreless at halftime.

Albion had one build up late in the first half and the possession ended in a shot by Emily Brittain that sailed over the goal.

Troost appeared to get a hand on shots by Hilary Curry, but the ball got past the goalkeeper as Hope seized a 2-0 lead eight minutes into the second half.

Hope added a late score as Abbey Przekop got her head on a corner kick by Erin Brophy for her fourth goal of the season.

Molly Hancock was credited with Albion's only shot on goal in the contest. Jenna Urso was also charged with taking a shot for Albion.

Albion, 1-2 overall, will play its next three MIAA contests on the road. The action begins Saturday night at Trine University. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
