Britons Explode After Fast Start

ALBION, Mich. – An Albion College side frustrated by scoring one goal over its last four contests broke out in a big way Saturday as it overwhelmed Olivet College, 4-1, in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's soccer match at the Davis Athletic Complex.

Albion set the tone from the outset as Emily Wolford and Jenna Urso were credited with shots in the first 10 minutes. Alex Radzville got the Britons on the board in the 25th minute.

Albion extended the lead to 3-0 at halftime as Riley Burnette struck in the 32nd minute and Haley Kennedy in the 38th.

Domenique Sarnecky completed the Albion scoring 4 ½ minutes into the second half when she buried a penalty kick for her third goal of the season.

"We worked hard all week on finishing and it showed up in the game today," Albion Head Coach Eric Scott said. "The stats showed we have struggled early and we made that a point of emphasis. We didn't score early, but we set the tempo."

Albion goalkeeper Maggie Troost fell 29 minutes shy of a clean sheet. Isabelle Leon produced her ninth goal of the season for Olivet. Troost finished the day with two saves.

Albion, 3-4-1 overall and 2-4 against MIAA rivals, will play its next four on the road. The Britons will begin racking up the miles Wednesday when the travel to Kalamazoo College for a contest with a 7 o'clock kickoff.
