Schwarz, Robinson power Albion to women's lacrosse victory

HANOVER, Ind. – Carly Schwarz set career highs with seven goals, two assists and nine points to lead Albion College to a 17-3 victory over Hanover College in non-league women's lacrosse action.

Prior to Sunday, Schwarz, a sophomore in the midfield from Clinton Township, Mich., had never scored more than two goals in a contest.

Schwarz was efficient Sunday, scoring on six of the seven shots she placed on goal. She took eight shots in all and controlled the draw six times.

Chrystelle Lopez tacked on three goals, while Abby Sheklow each added two goals and an assist. Darcy Muns chipped in with two goals, Destiny Okon was credited with a goal and assist, Emily Hill scored her first goal at the collegiate level and Marah Ranger completed the scoring with four minutes remaining.

Albion never trailed as Schwarz broke a 1-1 tie with her second goal midway through the first half. Schwarz added one more goal and Lopez scored twice as Albion rolled to an 8-1 halftime lead.

All of that scoring was more than enough for first-year goalkeeper Alexis Robinson. Playing a full 60 minutes for the first time, Robinson was nearly perfect, collecting 11 saves on 14 shots while scooping up a team-high four groundballs.

Albion, now 4-2 against non-league rivals this season, will play on campus for the first time this season next Sunday, March 24. It will be an 11 a.m. start against Illinois Wesleyan University.
