Women's Lacrosse falls in close game in Chicago

CHICAGO – Chrystelle Lopez, Darcy Muns and Destiny Okon scored three goals each for Albion College in a 13-10 loss to the University of Chicago in a non-league women's lacrosse contest Froday night.

Albion trailed 9-5 at halftime, but Lopez scored an unassisted goal and Darcy Muns added two goals to pull the Britons within one with 20 ½ minutes left.

Chicago called a timeout and Ali Sheehy provided the answer with a goal 15 seconds later. Karina Schulze controlled the draw and got the ball to Lally Johnson for the assist.

Anne Sensenig buried a free position shot and Johnson added an unassisted goal to boost the Chicago lead to 12-8 with 14 minutes left.

Albion had one more rally – Jade Barrett finished a free position shot and Okon scored her third goal of the night – to trail 12-10 with 4 ½ minutes left.

Abbey Pouba completed the scoring for Chicago with a free position shot with 2:23 left.

Chicago finished with a 40-23 edge in shots. Albion goalkeeper Jenina Villabroza was up to the challenge, making 18 saves on the 31 shots placed on goal.

Albion, 2-2 on the season, will enjoy an opportunity to see some of the sights in Chicago tomorrow. The Britons' next game is a March 14 date at Ohio Northern University.
