Women's Lacrosse shoots often at Redlands

REDLANDS, Calif. – Albion College generated plenty of scoring chances Thursday night, but Redlands goalkeeper Quinn Egan stopped 11 shots to prevent the Britons from gaining a spring break victory.

Redlands had a pair of three-goal scoring runs in the second half to hand the Britons a 9-6 setback.

Abby Sheklow scored her second goal just before the first half clock expired to give Albion a 4-3 lead at halftime.

Darcy Muns and Cassandra Reuschlein also scored goals for Albion in the first half.

Lacey Bjorndal scored three of her four goals for Redlands in the second half. Her first goal of the second half capped the Bulldogs first scoring run which boosted the home team to a 6-4 lead with 23:46 to play.

Albion's attempts to cut into the deficit over the next 11 minutes were stopped by Egan, who made five saves and a free position shot by Lauren Wiegand hit the post.

The Britons eventually broke through as Wiegand finished a free position shot to make the score 6-5 with 12 minutes to play.

Redlands pulled away with three more goals in a five-minute window.

Wiegand finished the scoring for the night, burying a free position shot with three minutes to play.

Taylor Nelson played a strong defensive game for the Britons with 13 ground balls and four caused turnovers.

Albion has one more spring break game remaining in California, a Saturday date with Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
