WLAX Program Claims Academic Awards

The Albion College women's lacrosse program was recognized for its academic performance during the 2016-2017 year Wednesday.

Albion was one of the Division III squads included on the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Zag Sports list of Academic Honor Squads. To qualify for the honor, squads had to achieve a 3.0 grade point average or better during the academic year. With a 3.43 team GPA, the Britons far exceeded the minimum requirement while also receiving the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association's Team GPA Award earlier this month.

Individually, Makenzie Frederickson, a junior majoring in accounting, was one of 532 student-athletes placed on the IWLCA Zag Sports Division III Academic Honor Roll with a 3.5 cumulative GPA or better. A MIAA Academic Honor Roll performer, Frederickson was a starter in all 15 contests for the Britons during the 2017 campaign.
