ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Albion College had its most productive day of the season on offense in a 17-10 loss at Augustana College.

Cait Gaitley and Taylor Nelson scored two goals apiece and Darcy Muns added a goal as Albion trailed 6-5 at halftime.

Anne Hopkins and Olivia Mayer produced three goals and an assist each as Augustana eight times in the first 15 ½ minutes of the second half.

Albion bounced back with a 5-1 run to cut the deficit to 15-10 with seven minutes left. Lauren Wiegand led the second half rally with two goals and an assist. Gaitley scored her third goal of the day and Muns tacked on her second goal of the day. Shannon Kahl also scored for the Britons.

"We played really tough lacrosse in pieces, but didn't put together a complete game," Albion Head Coach Shanta Loecker said. "Our offense worked much better as a unit, and our defense showed that they have learned a lot over the last week."

Albion (0-4 on the season) is scheduled to make its debut on the new Alumni Field inside the Davis Athletic Complex next Sunday (March 26) against Franklin (Ind.) College.
