Novak Scored Game-Winner As Albion Escapes Calvin

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Ashley Glenn scored five goals, but Mackenzie Novak's tally with 4 ½ minutes left in the contest stood as the game-winner as Albion College escaped with a 7-6 victory over Calvin College in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's lacrosse contest.

Calvin scored three times in the first 10 minutes of the contest. Glenn scored three times in the final 11 minutes of the first half as Albion forged a 3-3 tie at halftime. Novak assisted on Glenn's first and third goals, and Kadie Koolwick dished out the assist on the second.

Glenn tacked on the first two goals of the second half and the Britons didn't trail the rest of the way. Julie Wood, who assisted on Glenn's first goal of the second half, scored with 9:23 left as Albion held a 6-4 lead. Novak's tally pushed the margin to 7-4.

Carolyn Forbes scored a pair of unassisted goals in a span of 37 seconds to trim Albion's lead, but Koolwick won the final draw of the contest and the Britons were able to run out the clock.

Albion goalkeeper Victoria Della Pia finished with nine saves.

Albion, 6-4 overall and 2-0 against its MIAA rivals, travels to Angola, Ind., for an April 16 date against Trine University.
