ALBION, Mich. – The Albion College women's lacrosse team turned in one of its most dominant performances ever Wednesday as it scored a 14-0 victory over Loras College in a non-league contest at Sprankle-Sprandel Stadium.
Despite playing a man-down, Albion took control of the contest in the opening minute. Kadie Koolwick scored the first of her three goals 37 seconds into the first half. Maddy Hutchison and Mackenzie Novak added goals as Albion led 3-0 seven minutes into the contest.
Albion controlled 14 of the 15 draws in the contest as it maintained possession of the ball for the majority of the contest. When Loras did mount an attack, Albion defenders Marta Davila and Ellen Redner limited the damage to two shots.
"The low defenders stepped up," Albion Coach Shanta Loecker said. "They played so smart and disciplined every possession."
Five attackers scored. Ashley Glenn finished with five goals and two assists, Novak produced four goals and four assists, and Isabel Fontana added a score.
"Having five players on the board shows how we utilized all of the tools available to us tonight," Loecker said.
Albion will play its first-ever Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association contest April 4 when Olivet College visits Sprankle-Sprandel Stadium for a 7 p.m. match.
