ALBION, Mich. – Ashley Glenn and Kadie Koolwick combined to score six times as Albion College ripped off seven goals to erase a 6-2 deficit, but the Britons wilted in the second half in a 23-12 loss to DePauw University in non-league women's lacrosse action at Sprankle-Sprandel Stadium.
By the time Mackenzie Novak scored to finish the rally, Albion had built a 8-6 lead with less than five minutes left in the first half.
Natalie Swiler scored twice and Abigail Snively and Elizabeth McCracken also found the net as DePauw recovered to take a 10-8 halftime lead.
Albion had one more rally – Novak and Koolwick produced unassisted tallies in the first 5 ½ minutes of the second half – to forge a tie at 10. Koolwick scored again to tie the score at 11 with 20 minutes left in regulation.
McCracken scored three goals and dished out two assists as DePauw scored the next seven goals to take control. She finished the day with five goals and six assists. Swiler led the Tigers with seven goals. Jamie Powell added five goals and Snively produced three goals and an assist.
Koolwick scored six times on 10 shots. She also dished out an assist. Glenn tacked on four goals.
Albion continues its homestand at 2 p.m. Sunday when it challenges the club team from Franklin (Ind.) College.
