Women's Golf team fights through rain in MIAA Jamboree

ANGOLA, Ind. – Persistent rain throughout the day on Wednesday helped to bunch the scores in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's golf jamboree at the Zollner Golf Course.

Albion College finished in sixth place in the team standings, but its 336 total was just three strokes off the pace set by Hope College, the second place team. Saint Mary's College won the event with a 312 total. Calvin University, Trine University and Olivet College all tied for third at 334.

Grace Hoffman tied for eighth in the individual standings with a round of 81, matching her collegiate best.

Bailey Downs achieved her collegiate best with a round of 82 and Kiley Flynn matched her collegiate low with an 85.

Sydney Cohn and Anika Krishnan finished the day with rounds of 88.

MIAA teams will return to the course tomorrow – The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall – for another MIAA Jamboree.

Joe and Julie Serra have given a $5 million leadership gift to launch a fundraising initiative to make two dreams a reality. The first is a newly expanded fitness and student activity facility at the site of the current Dow Recreation and Wellness Center. The second is a new or renovated facility for the volleyball, men's basketball and women's basketball teams that currently call Kresge Gymnasium home.

The College is continuing to raise funds in support of both projects. To learn more, call 517/629-0446 or email advancement@albion.edu.
