Albion women's golf team wins Steve Tyler Intercollegiate

PORTAGE, Mich. – Megan Moco, Grace Hoffman and Bailey Downs were among the top seven on the individual leaderboard as the Albion College women's golf team turned in the low score in the Steven Tyler Intercollegiate at The Moors Golf Club on Monday.

Moco turned in a score of 83 to finish one shot behind Darby Scott from Kalamazoo College.

Moco received support from Hoffman (88) and Downs (89) as the Britons finished with a 356 total for a 12-stroke margin of victory over Trine University (368). Kalamazoo was third at 372.

"The Britons managed their way around a difficult golf course," Head Coach Jordan McArleton said. "We limited our mistakes but also took opportunities to make birdies on the easier holes. Our preparation in having course maps and knowing the course well paid off."

Albion will play the first of three rounds to determine the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association's automatic qualifier to the NCAA Division III Championship April 16 when it travels to The Ravines Golf Club in Saugatuck.

Joe and Julie Serra have given a $5 million leadership gift to launch a fundraising initiative to make two dreams a reality at Albion College. The first is a newly expanded fitness and student activity facility at the site of the current Dow Recreation and Wellness Center. The second is a new or renovated competition facility for the volleyball, men's basketball and women's basketball that currently call Kresge Gymnasium home.

The College is continuing to raise funds in support of both projects. To learn more, call 517/629-0446 or email advancement@albion.edu.
