KALAMAZOO, Mich. - An excellent performance from the Britons leads to their 10th Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association victory over Kalamazoo 80-47.   After a tight first quarter with a 13-13 finish, the Britons pulled away in the second and took a 37-26 lead into halftime. This was sparked by the Britons outscoring the Hornets 16-5 over the last seven minutes of the quarter.

The Britons eventually pulled away by as many as 35 points over Kalamazoo to coast to the victory.   It was 23 forced turnovers and 23 points off turnovers for the Britons that helped pile on to their lead.  Amanda Larson led the charge with five steals.

It was an overall strong performance by Albion on defense.   The Hornets were held to 26.6% from the field and 25% from beyond the arc.

Four Britons scored in double figures for a 14, 13, 12, 11 scoresheet, which was led by Elena Welker.   Evelyn Wischmeyer, Rain Hinton, and Rebecca Ross followed in step for the Britons.

Wischmeyer also led the Britons with six assists while Hinton led the Britons on the boards with seven.

After losing to #3 Hope, the Britons are on a three-game win streak, of which two of the last victories have come on the road.

Joe and Julie Serra have given a $5 million leadership gift to launch a fundraising initiative to make two dreams a reality at Albion College. The first is a newly expanded fitness and student activity facility at the site of the current Dow Recreation and Wellness Center. The second is a new or renovated competition facility for the volleyball, men's basketball and women's basketball teams that currently call Kresge Gymnasium home.

The College is continuing to raise funds in support of both projects. To learn more, call 517/629-0446 or email advancement@albion.edu
