ADRIAN, Mich. – Rain Hinton scored a career-high 28 and Evelyn Wischmeyer chipped in with 19 off the bench to lead Albion College to a 77-70 victory over Adrian College in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's basketball action.
Hinton and Wischmeyer were engaged from the start, combining for 18 points as Albion sprinted out to a 25-17 lead at the end of the first quarter. Hinton made all five of her shots from the field and Wischmeyer knocked down 2-of-3 from 3-point range.
Albion outscored Adrian, 14-3, over the final 4 ½ minutes of the first quarter. Wischmeyer both both of her 3-point shots and Hinton tacked on a pair of layups.
Hinton and Wischmeyer scored five points apiece and Sam Carter went 4-for-4 from the free throw line in the second quarter as Albion led, 44-31, at halftime.
Albion led by as many as 17 in the third quarter and Adrian never got within seven the rest of the way.
Of Note
- Hinton achieved her fifth 20-point game of the season. She shot 73 percent (8-of-11) for her second-best shooting performance of the season. She was 6-of-7 (86 percent) in the Nov. 28 home victory over Olivet College.
- Hinton also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds and collected a steal.
- Wischmeyer stuffed the box score with five rebounds, two assists and four steals.
- Carter, who was 9-of-10 from the free throw line, was Albion's other double figure scorer with 11. She dished out five assists and collected three steals.

Albion (16-5 overall, 8-4 MIAA) returns home Wednesday to begin the season's final regular season homestand. The Britons host Alma for a 7:30 p.m. game at Kresge Gymnasium.
