Basketball student-athlete Rain Hinton and distance runner Cassie Vince represent Albion College among the Jan. 15 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Athletes of the Week.
Hinton, a sophomore from Fort Wayne, Ind., who prepped at Woodlan High School, produced 40 points as Albion defeated Calvin College and Alma College to improve to 13-2 overall and 6-1 in MIAA games. Shooting 52 percent from the field, she scored 22 against Calvin and 18 against Alma. She also averaged 8 ½ rebounds in the two games.
Hinton boasts team-best averages of 15.3 points and 7.3 rebounds for the season.
Albion continues MIAA play on the road this week with a Wednesday game at 10th-ranked Trine University and a Saturday date at Olivet College.
A senior from Amherst, Ohio, Cassie Vince owns the top time in Division III in the 3,000 meters at this point of the season after setting a time of 9:39.35 in a meet at Grand Valley State University last Friday.
